StudyMate 1.0 Beta Available
Have you ever wished you could create great-looking Flash activities and games for your online courses, without having to learn Flash programming? If so, we think you'll like StudyMate, a new authoring tool by Respondus that lets instructors create nine Flash-based games and activities using three simple templates. Just enter the questions or items in the editor and then select the activities you want to use. StudyMate can also import items from other formats, such as MS Word documents and IMS QTI files. This makes it easy for instructors to create interesting, interactive activities from existing content.
StudyMate provides direct integration with Blackboard (6.0 and higher, Basic and Enterprise), WebCT CE (4.0 and higher), and WebCT Vista (2.1 and higher). This allows StudyMate activities to be published directly to an online course, without even going to the course with a browser. StudyMate activities can also be uploaded to other eLearning systems or even a web page, since it allows you to export a standard Flash object.
StudyMate is currently available as a beta release. Anyone interested in participating in the beta program can download the StudyMate software from http://www.respondus.com/studymate/index.shtml. We are seeking feedback from people with all levels of skill and experience, so don't think you need to be a "techie" in order to participate as a beta tester.
If you would like to see the type of activities and games that can be created with StudyMate, go to http://www.respondus.com/studymate/samples.shtml.
