The newest release of Respondus LockDown Browser now includes an integration for Moodle 1.9+.
If you're familiar with how Respondus LockDown Browser works with other learning management systems, then you mostly know how to use it with Moodle.
Once the administrator has installed the "Moodle module for Respondus LockDown Browser," instructors will see additional security settings for the quiz tool, which allows the locked browser requirement to be turned on or off for quizzes. If the instructor enables the setting for a quiz, students are prevented from accessing the quiz with a standard browser – they must use Respondus LockDown Browser.
When running Respondus LockDown Browser, students are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications during an online assessment. When a Moodle quiz is started, students are locked into it until it is submitted for grading. Respondus LockDown Browser reduces cheating and greatly inhibits the common methods students use to copy and distribute exam questions.
By the way, if your institution already licenses Respondus LockDown Browser for use with another LMS, there is no additional cost to use it with Moodle. In fact, the same installs of Respondus LockDown Browser can be used with multiple learning systems (for example, Blackboard and Moodle) if the administrator enables this capability from the administrator control panel.
If your institution doesn't already license Respondus LockDown Browser, it's easy to set up a pilot license. Simply contact your Account Manager or send an email to sales@respondus.com. For institutions that already have a license for Respondus LockDown Browser, you'll find details for downloading and installing the Moodle module within the administrator area of the Respondus website.
