We don’t typically preannounce product integrations. But these two integrations for Moodle are so close you can almost taste them.
Respondus Integration
Respondus 3.5 users will be happy to hear that the next version of Respondus will contain a Moodle personality. Currently, Moodle users must create assessments using the QTI personality in Respondus, export the XML file, and upload the assessment to a Moodle course using a browser (and this assumes that a QTI extension has been installed to the Moodle server).
There will still be a Moodle extension (module) to be installed to the server, but this will enable the next update of Respondus to publish and retrieve assessments seamlessly with Moodle courses. The beta release version of Respondus will be announced shortly and we anticipate a final release this summer.
Respondus LockDown Browser Integration
This summer, we also plan to release our Respondus LockDown Browser integration for Moodle. This too will require a server extension (module) to be installed to the server, but after doing so, it will enable Respondus LockDown Browser to integrate with Moodle courses. If you’re not familiar with this product, Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within course management systems. Students are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications during an online assessment. When an assessment is started, students are locked into it until it is submitted for grading.
Stay tuned for additional information on both of these product integrations for Moodle.
