The StudyMate Author 1.5.5f patch is only intended for those who already installed StudyMate Author 1.5. You do not have to apply earlier 1.5 patches before applying the StudyMate Author 1.5.5f patch. A detailed list of the issues related to this patch appears at the bottom of this page.

The quickest and easiest way to download and apply the 1.5.5f patch is to start StudyMate Author, go to the "Help" menu, select "Check for Update," and then click "Get Update."

If you prefer, though, you may also download the appropriate version of the patch from the links below. Once the patch is downloaded, double-click the file to run a short unzip process that replaces the original StudyMate.exe file.

The StudyMate Author 1.5.5f patch includes these features:

• Support for Vista 4.1/WebCT CE 6.1 (Application Pack 1)
• Support for Blackboard 7.1 (Application Pack 1)
• A fix for "no courses found" error in Blackboard 6.3 - 7.x
• Additional support for new authentication types in Blackboard 6.3 - 7.x
• A fix addresses recent changes to Internet Explorer and its handling of ActiveX Controls, such as Macromedia Flash. Our fix makes it so that end-users of the StudyMate Author games or activities don't need to click on the Flash object to make it active.

The patch also includes all fixes and enhancements from previous StudyMate Author patches, including:

• Includes a fix for adding images when the color template is changed
• Includes several new types of Blackboard authentication, including CAS and CUNY
• The script code for SCORM was updated for better compatibility
• Seven new color palettes are available from the Settings > Other Settings menu
• Importing of Blackboard 7 glossaries is now supported
• SCORM 1.2 packages can now be published directly to WebCT Vista 4/CE 6 servers
• A new method for publishing Flash objects to Blackboard 6.3-7.x is being used, which will resolve problems with copying Flash objects to other Blackboard courses.
• StudyMate Author will now publish activities to ANGEL servers (6.3 and higher), Blackboard 6.3 & 7 (in addition to 6.0-6.2), WebCT CE 6, and WebCT Vista 4
• Six language interfaces were added, allowing activities to be created in Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, and Spanish
• New settings allow StudyMate Author activities to be compliant with accessibility standards
• Import, text limit for question/definition increased from 500 characters to 1,000
• A Crossword Puzzle activity has been added to the "One Answer" template in StudyMate Author
• SCORM-compliant Flash object can now be published/exported from StudyMate Author
• Printing capabilities have been added to the "Preview and Publish" menu
• Improved support of non-English and unicode characters
