The Respondus 3.5.4f patch is only intended for those who already installed Respondus 3.5 (to upgrade from Respondus 3.0 download the full install). You do not have to apply earlier patches before applying the Respondus 3.5.4f patch. In addition, all patches are immediately incorporated into the full installation programs that are available from this website, so it's not necessary to apply a patch if you have downloaded and installed the latest installation program from this website. A detailed list of the issues related to this patch appears at the bottom of this page.

The quickest and easiest way to download and apply the 3.5.4f patch is to start Respondus 3.5, go to the "Help" menu, select "Check for Update," and then click "Get Update."

If you prefer, though, you may also download the appropriate version of the patch from the links below. Once the patch is downloaded, double-click the file to run a short unzip process that replaces the original Respond.exe file.

All Course Management System "Personalities"

• Support for importing MS Word 2007 ".docx" files has been added
• Imports of MS Word ".doc" files now allow inclusion of Auto-Numbered and Auto-Lettered lists
• A problem with importing multiple choice questions when answer choices only contain images has been corrected
• The "Save As" function from the File menu includes several export enhancements

Blackboard (Classic) Personality

• Support for Version 8 of the Blackboard Learning System has been added
• A problem with retrieving Calculated, Fill in Multiple Blank, and Jumbled questions that have HTML formatting around bracket variables has been resolved
• A problem retrieving assessments that contain more than 50 random blocks has been corrected
• Problems with displaying large lists of courses and exams in Blackboard 7.x have been fixed
• In the Retrieve Questions task, a problem that triggers a "DynaZip error" was resolved

Desire2Learn Personality

• A problem with publishing Short Answer questions that contain special characters in the answer field has been resolved
• The onscreen instructions for uploading quizzes to Desire2Learn have been updated to match changes in the learning system

eCollege Personality

• A publishing problem with Fill in the Blank questions that contain answers having "&" or "< >" symbols has been resolved
• The Publish Wizard now displays term/semester separators between course names

WebCT Vista 4 - 8 / CE 6 Personality

• Support for Version 8 of Vista has been added
• A problem with "All or Nothing" grading for Multiple Response questions has been resolved

All Course Management System "Personalities"

• From the File menu, a "Save as iPod Quiz" feature has been added for exporting questions in a format usable with Apple's iPod Quiz game.
• The Retrieval task and the Update Settings task have been streamlined so that the server settings don't have to be viewed each time
• The administrator for the Campus-wide license can now pre-set the server publishing settings for instructors

ANGEL Personality

• A fix was added to allow the publishing of questions that contain accented characters in the question titles or in Fill in the Blank answers
• A problem with publishing audio-video files has been fixed

Blackboard (Legacy) Personality

• The Retrieval task now supports the downloading of surveys from Blackboard Enterprise 7.1 and higher
• The "Settings" task now supports various answer choice styles (1,2,3 and III,IV,V, and a,b,c) for questions in Blackboard 6.3 - 7.x.

Desire2Learn Personality

• Answer choices of Multiple Choice and Multi-Select questions can now be randomized; a File > Preference setting has also been added to control the default state of this setting

IMS QTI Personality

• There is improved handling of special and accented characters in exports
